If you’re looking to make money online, you might be considering YouTube as one of your top options. With good reason! The video-sharing platform has more than 1 billion users who watch hundreds of millions of hours of video content each day. In fact, there are now more 18- to 49-year-olds watching YouTube on mobile devices than any other cable network in the U.S., making it an obvious choice if you want to make money online from home and gain worldwide exposure at the same time! What is Affiliate Marketing?
If you don’t have your own product, affiliate marketing is a great way to make money online. Most affiliate programs work by paying you a commission when a customer visits their site through your link, and then buys something from them. If they refer 100 people in six months, that’s $2-18K in passive income (and even more if they continue referring people after six months)!

There are tons of ways to make money by running ads. Whether you’re creating a video review, posting sponsored content or just running ads before your videos and getting paid based on views, you have plenty of options when it comes to making extra cash with video advertising. In fact, video ad revenue is projected to grow 29% year over year in 2019 according to research firm EY (dubbed the fastest-growing ad format). Building an Audience and Engaging with Them
If you plan to make money through ads, sponsorships, and affiliate marketing, you need a sizeable audience. You’ll want to find out how large your potential customer base is and how active they are. If your channel has fewer than 100 subscribers, for example, that’s not large enough for many advertisers or sponsors. And if your videos get less than 1,000 views per week that doesn’t mean much in terms of revenue unless you have a huge audience overall. Don’t expect an overnight windfall when it comes to making money on YouTube – these things take time!

If you’re good at something and enjoy it, why not try to get paid for it? If you can earn money from your videos, why not share that knowledge with others? Many people do just that by partnering with companies and earning a commission when they make a sale or get leads as a result of their marketing efforts. It’s hard work, but can be very rewarding. Signing Up With Google AdSense
One of best ways to make money from videos is through Google AdSense. Once you’re signed up with Google AdSense, every time you upload a video, ads will appear within it. If viewers click on these ads, you’ll be able to earn a certain amount per view—the amount varies depending on your contract with Google. As your channel grows and more people view your videos, so will your earnings. However, if you have over 10k views per day or 1000 views per hour at peak times in any 24-hour period (your rate might change as well), it’s worth contacting YouTube directly before going forward with an AdSense account because they may not accept your application.
Understanding Your Monetization Report
With AdSense, you will receive a monthly Monetization Report that details your AdSense activity for a given month. If you haven’t earned any money in that month, it doesn’t mean you aren’t getting traffic or impressions—in fact, some videos might have had so much traffic they couldn’t even fit all of it in one video! Video views are shown with three numbers (for example, 200K/10M/2M). The first number refers to how many times people watched your video over the course of a month. In our example, 200K means that 200,000 people watched at least one second of your video.
