The Bangladesh Christian Development Board (CCDB) was established in 1973 as a national voluntary organization to carry out relief and recovery work, which was established by the Bangladesh Global Relief and Recovery Service (BERRS) in 1972. to meet the needs of the victims People during the 1971 Revolutionary War and its developmental interventions
Until 1975, the CCDB was mainly engaged in humanitarian and rehabilitation work. It has greatly helped people affected by war to return to normal life. Since then, the CCDB has placed an increasing focus on social development and human potential in rural Bangladesh. There is a huge investment in human resource development. In the late 1980, the CCDB prepared the first five-year plan and submitted it to a group of donors. It focuses on unlocking human potential through formal and informal education. At the same time, the CDCD became interested in the processes involved in overcoming poverty. Sustainability is not possible without people at the center of development. CCDB has been a widely people-engaged process since the 1980s. Some changes have occurred at both the program and management level. And most of the responsibility is transferred to the People’s Institutes (PIs).
Since 1996 CDBB has made some changes to the program again. He introduced the People’s Managed Savings and Credit Program (PMSC) to increase benefits for the poor. In addition, the Community-Based Public Health and Disaster Management Program is a key development initiative.
The Bangladesh Christian Development Board (CCDB), as an organization, has gone through a multi-step process of transformation through the stages of development to respond to emerging problems and to seek better alternatives to meet the needs of the poor.
